Duke Ellington School of the Arts “Buff & Scrub”

More than 40 M.C. Dean, Inc. employees arrived at Duke Ellington School of the Arts on 3500 R Street NW in Georgetown at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday August 18 ready to perform electrical and other repairs to the building in preparation for the 2007-2008 school year. The company volunteered its employees in support of Mayor Adrian Fenty’s “Buff and Scrub” program and also donated lights and electrical materials to the school. The “Buff and Scrub” Program is part of Mayor Fenty’s effort to make repairs at all 141 schools in the District this summer. Schools in the “Buff and Scrub” program require repairs including electrical, lighting, plumbing, heating and cooling, painting, and concrete resurfacing.

At Ellington, the hallways of the school needed lighting improvements, as did the ballet room on the school’s lower level. The ballet room ceiling is approximately 20 feet high, which presented a challenge for lighting and equipment replacement.
M.C. Dean, Inc. erected scaffolding in this room, which was donated by Theros Rentals.
